NUSOJ secretary General is blamed that he is using
Alshabab members to kill journalist working Radio
Mogadishu and other media that are in favor of the
TFG |
Mogadishu 13 January, 2010:
SOJRA received a copy of a letter sent by Omar Faruk to
Hassan Hanafi, believed that he is a member of Al-shabaab
instructing him to take all necessary action against the
journalist, and urging their details to be forwarded to
Alshabab and money sent to him through one of the Somali
remittance.
Among the journalists their names appear in that email
letter were: Mohamed Olad who works AP and BBC
and Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimu BBC Somali Service.
Abdulaziz Africa, Mohamed Abukar, al’adala and
Abdullahi Kulmiye who work for TFG Radio.
Others are Shaatax of SOCFEX, Shariif Moalim
a member of media committee in
Mogadishu,
Ahmed Taajir exiled in Uganda, Mohamed Odawaa
exiled in Uganda, Dahir Alasow in
Holland,
Mohamed Siidii in Nairobi, Daud Abdi Daud
Press Freedom activities, Mohamed Fiyoore former
NUSOJ chairman and now a rival to Omar and Nuxurkeey
chairman of south and central journalist
Association.
The email is showing that the person who wrote believed
to be Omar Faruk is not happy the activities of the
above named journalists, specially their vision to form
new associations and the propaganda against Alshabab and
other insurgents that are in favor of the UN baked
government.
Recently, the former director of Universal TV in South
and Central Somalia
Ibrahim Mohamed Ali
was arrested at Muthaiga Police Station by the same
police officer who arrested Daud Abdi Abdi on
13th September 2009.
both Daud and Ibrahim said prior their arrest they got
threat from Omar Faruk.
The two were arrested at the same police station by the
same police officer, but later released. Both of them
were raided at their houses in Eastleigh.
This email is prompting the need for an independent
investigation over the killings of the journalist in
Somalia last years and SOJRA is urging urgent
independent investigation against the masterminds of all
killed journalist in
Somalia
and the raid and arrest against journalist in
Nairobi.
