congratulates her founder for his creativity and

Mogadishu, Somalia 24 March, 2010 ::
The Somali Journalist Rights Agency (SOJRA) would like
to welcome and celebrate the tone of voice from her
respected founder Mr. Daud Abdi Daud, who was officially
make public his support for the newly established Somali
Media for Peace and Development (SOMEPED) on Monday 23
March, 2010 when a journalist questioned him and asked a
question for the relationship between Somali journalist
associations widely.
“Absolutely Mr. Daud slashed the recent
speculations inside Somali journalists and media
practitioners which says that he was astonished and
believes that SOMEPED is just like an instrumental of
war and tactic from NUSOJ”said Nadir Mash-hur, SOJRA
press and media relations officer.
“It’s not shameful to me to say SOMEPED
is legitimate organization according to the
international laws and treaties and I believe that
everybody has his right to establish an association
peacefully and for the approval of the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights article twenty (20) as well
as I hope my colleague Mustafa Haji Abdinur, who is now
privileged CPJ’s press award 2009 will do enough efforts
and paving the way new intermingling and solidarity
among Somali journalists locally and internationally
fair-mindedness” Mr. Daud said in his interview on
Monday.

SOJRA would like also to publicly
announce her endorsement of the newly established Hayaan
Media Development Centre (HMDC) based in Netherlands and
congratulate the exiled journalists live in there who
generously come together and perform this media centre
in order to create a new system of teamwork within
Somali media industry.
Obviously, they are well attentive who
decided to initiate this centre according to their

The honorable founder of SOJRA, Mr. Daud
Abdi Daud, who is well prominent journalist in Somalia
widely, particularly south and Central Somali regions
adhered to his colleagues in the media field in order to
let them reveal professional cohesion and he was
exposing an effective and strong effort that defends
their rights attentiveness.
During his endeavors episode attracted
from corrupt individuals who claimed to be journalists’
leaders locally with the help of external spoilers who
made an assault against his personal entity and dignity
as well as SOJRA’s access to information and with

Indeed, SOJRA’s founder honorable Mr.

SOJRA was formed specifically to build
strategic frame work and process in order to defend the
rights of journalists and press freedom in Somalia, this
agency uses the accounting and administrative system of
Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs).
SOJRA works together with all sectors of
Somali society including non-governmental organizations,
governmental institutions, civil societies and the
general public in information sharing.
SOJRA has also a close relation to the
international and the local NGOs and organizations that
promote and protect the press freedom as well as freedom
of expression.
