SOJRA is concern the criminal bands posing as journalists

Mogadishu 30 December, 2009 :: The Somali Journalist Rights Agency (SOJRA) would like to inform the international media and human rights organizations as well as local civil society organizations the existence of a band of criminals posing as journalists with an intention to trick the international community and to cement the network of the criminals, through e-mail hacking, false allegations, letters and communiqués.

                                     

Ali Yassin Gurbe, who claims to be a journalist who is currently working in the media field but it is not possible and all Somali journalists will not accept to respect him as a journalist. First he was a journalist who worked for two radios in Galgaduud and Kismayo but he becomes a member of the small Somali journalists who  joined the Islamist insurgents particularly the defeated group called Rascamboni group led by Sheikh Hassan Turki in lower Jubba region.

Recently there was a row between Somali journalists for his case and SOJRA decided to investigate the case independently and confirmed that Mr. Ali Yassin Gurbe was trained in Gudha area in order to be well trained member of the insurgents who knows more tactics for gorilla attacks.

It widely believed that some journalists are now members of Alshabab, Hizbul Islam and other insurgents groups as well as a small number of of the journalists who are the members were organized the assassination of some journalists in south and central journalists.

SOJRA is interested in serving and defending all the rights and welfare of all Somali journalists in across the country and for those who are exile in neighboring countries or overseas.
