Working to Protect Journalist Rights and Welfare in across the country

Somalia will come out a place for no reporters, if the international community should protected the Somali journalists.

Since this year only five Somali journalist were killed and another ten injured in Somalia, all of them on duty.

This caused about twenty active journalists in Mogadishu suspended their job, to show the world that they are working in a very insecure situation "the most dangerous area in the world", making the capital city of Somalia a place for no reporters.

The situation is helpful about violation of human rights in the capital city of Somalia Mogadishu, and other party of the country where both the government forces and the insurgents committed human right cases daily.

It is believed Journalists are killed by Alshabab who believe they are pro government of Sheikh Sharif. But again other sources are investigating claims saying that sometimes government forces also assasinate media people in the capital city to make deep conflict between the media and Alshabab.

The current fighting in the capital city many civilians mainly children were killed while many other vulnerable groups were displaced. The IDPs are not getting their basic rights, like food, clean water, shelter and medical facilities.

Pregnant women who fled from the current fighting between the government forces and insurgents are dying for lack of food, nutrition and the service MCHs provides to the pregnant women.

Mosque in Karan district north of Mogadishu were killed 13 people, while a whole family composed eight members killed by AMISOM heavy missiles shot to the town when ever Alshabab attack became strong one.

AMISOM is part of the groups who daily committed human rights cases. Amisom missiles play a very important role for the displacement of many families in the capital city as their missiles kills in a single time more than 8 -10 family members. Mostly people think artillery missiles used by AMISOM which never hit Alshabab military camps can eliminate the whole family.

All these cases will never be reported any more as many reporters in Capital city run away because of fair persecution and this will make the country as a country where there is no  reporter.

Children kidnapping is increasing in the country, rape cases continuously happen in the displaced areas and in Mogadishu by the insurgents and government forces.

35 people including the security minister of the government were killed in a suicide attack in Beletweyne town central Somalia, the incident was claimed by Alshabab.

Establishment of military court by the Sheikh Sharif is a positive step but as there is no reporter in the capital city the government forces will continue their harassments and human right violation cases, the court will never heard any case.

If the journalists who are reporting from the most dangerous part of the world are not supported then the Somali civilians will remain victim of Alshabab and Government forces.

SOJRA is calling all international organization who supports the journalist to help Somali journalists remain on their duty, by giving them capacity building training on reporting in the conflict area and equip them properly as most of the time their equipment were destroyed by the insurgents and the government forces.

SOJRA is also calling all international human right organization to record as human right violators three officers who always each other BLAME about the killings of Somali Journalist. The three are Prof Abdirahman Ibbi who is a minister and deputy minister for the TFG, Sheikh Ali dheere the spokesman of Alshabab and Sheikh Musa Arale of Hisbul Islam.
