Ibrahim Mohamed Ali (Ibrahim J.K) former Universal TV director in South and Central Somalia arrested tonight by the Kenya Police.

Mogadishu January 9, 2010 :: Three Kenya Police officers entered his room at Mash Building at 8:00pm in Eastleigh Nairobi and then took him to Muthaiga Police Station where he is now detained.

One of the three officers commented about the arrest and said that Mr. Ibrahim is in the list of five Somali journalist who are supposed to be arrested and they are also after the other four.

Asked about the case, the police officer said that the five journalists are operating here in Nairobi illegally reporting to other media, he continued and said Somali Government is behind their operation.

Mr. Ibrahim is not no reporting to any media be it the universal TV or other Somali media houses. The universal TV has its own staff in its office in Nairobi, which operates daily and Ibrahim is not one of them.

Mr. Ibrahim was here in Nairobi as a refugee journalist following when he was kidnapped in Mogadishu by Alshabab and later released after ransom is paid by his family.

He came very recently from Uganda to receive his family who are on their way to Kenya coming from Somalia, but unfortunately he (the father) has became again a victim of Kenya Government.

SOJRA is warning the security of the former Universal Director in the region and is demanding immediate release of the journalist and urging the world help him in safe place.
