Nairobi: 03 September, 2008 Kidnapped two western journalists closer to freedom

Contact has been made with the kidnappers of Australian journalist Nigel Brennan and canadian female journalist Amanda Lindhout in Somalia and negotiations are under way to secure their release.

Brennan, 37, was abducted with Canadian Amanda Lindhout, 27, and Somali translator Abdifatah Mohammed Elmi, on Saturday, August 23 while on a visit to a refugee camp near Mogadishu, Somalia's capital.

"We proud of  the beginning of  success negotiations about the abduction of the two western journalists" said Daud Abdi Daud the founder and director of Somali journalists rights agency (SOJRA).

All SOJRA officials are working to secure the release of the two western journalists and their translater who was also a freelancer journalist.
