Mogadishu: 13 August,2008 SOJRA Calls the president of Somalia Abdulahi yusuf Ahmed to respect the impunity of Somali journalists  and stop the abortive attack against to press freedom of Somalia..

 

Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf Tuesday said he supports the national reconciliation and for the first time openly spoke about his differences with the Prime Minister Nur Hassan Hussein (Nur'adde).

"I am not opposed to the national reconciliation and no one in my government is opposed to it because I have been part of 12 out of the 14 peace talks held for Somalia," Somali President said at a rare news conference at his office in Mogadishu.

The Somali president also lashed out at the media accusing it of lying and bias urging it to be impartial and fair, saying the media should work towards peace and "direct people towards peace, security and unity.

“We are really concern about by the accusing of Somali media and Journalists said Daud Abdi Daud SOJRA’s Secretary General., Accusing and Arresting the Journalists in the coarse of their duties and detaining them unduly are endurable acts of aggression, and we demand to the Transitional Federal Government and Al-shabab Islamic Movement authorities to immediately instruct their armed forces to respect all Journalists and to get rid of and end the harassments and violations against the rights of Somali   Journalists” he added.

 

 

SOJRA is fighting the rights, freedoms development and safety of Somali journalists who are currently inside and out side of the country.
