SOJRA irked the press threats from the Somali government ministers and recommended good collaboration each side

Mogadishu, Somalia March 6, 2010 :: SOJRA irked the press threats from the Somali government ministers and recommended good collaboration each side

The Somali Journalist Rights Agency (SOJRA) would like to clearly react the yesterday’s threats and alarm against BBC-Somali Service employers especially Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimou.

TFG Defense State Minister Sheikh Yusuf Mohamed Siyad blamed BBC-Somali Service reporters that they are not doing impartial reporting while they are on duty especial he was pointed his finger Mohamed Ibrahim Moalimou.

Mr. Yusuf was furiously said “BBC-Somali Service is just like a political figure according to their badly translations and against our side”.

However, SOJRA believes that this frustration from Sheikh Yusuf is based his lack of educational proficiency and experience for media chooses and the meaning for freedom of expression.

His threat came following when a journalist Moalimou reported the weakness of Somalia armed forces and counted the area that they are now controlling.

The TFG has to know that the international communities are strongly considering media reports as source of information, where decision to grant fund to the governments is also based. Freedom of speech is an international treaty that Somalia has signed and the current TFG charter is also stated about it, thus, the TFG must strongly support it asset is its own interest.
