SOJRA is recommending all foreign journalist to register with the newly Established media association “Somalia Foreign Correspondent Association

Mogadishu 23 December, 2009 :: The Somali Journalist Rights Agency (SOJRA) is warning against the non journalist foreign staff claiming to be a journalist when they are in Somalia if kidnapped. This could jeopardize the effort of the human rights and international organization aimed to help the real journalist having problems in Somalia while they are on duty.

In order the international human right and humanitarian organization help the official foreign journalist working in Somalia Sojra is recommending all foreign journalist to register with the newly Established media association “Somalia Foreign Correspondent Association SOFCA” for all foreign reporters in order they are immediately recognized to which media house they are belonged to.

This call comes following when two France diplomats claimed journalist after when they were kidnapped in Somalia.

Lawless Somalia is a dangerous place for foreign aid workers and journalists as they risk being kidnapped and held by gunmen until a ransom is paid. However, many local aid workers and journalists have been killed.
