Support letter to the Mombassa Somali Civil Society Meeting.

Nairobi, Kenya 13 December, 2009 :: The Somali Journalist Rights Agency would like to express its support to the organizing team (Center for Research and Dialogue) for the Somali Civil Society meeting in Mombassa and to the conference.

It was really a historic meeting as it was the first meeting of its kind that made possible the Somali Civil Societies to gather in Mombassa and talk each other directly for about two decades by discussing the role of the Somali civil society to the peace and leadership in Somalia.

We also would like to thank the funding donors for the conference who have been supporting the Somali people since the collapse of the Somali Central Government and before.

We are also very much apologetic on the disturbance made by Omar Faruk Osman to the conference following when the media stake holders representatives and journalists protested against him as he claimed that he is leader for Somali journalists. 

It was an unfortunately move against the aim of the meeting, which was to explore the position of the Somali Civil Society in the peace and leadership of Somalia.
