Who behinds the journalists being murdered, abducted and assaulted whether be citizens or foreigners?

The Somali Journalists’ Rights Agency (SOJRA) would like to articulate this page for those behind the killing of Somali Journalists. Since the overthrow of the authoritarian Siad Barre government in 1991. a number of violations against journalists had happened: More than 400 cases of abductions, killings, arrests and intimidations had been registered by the media advocacy groups in the country.

As the matter-of-fact, the attacks on the press are not new phenomena; indeed these barbaric acts dates back in 1991, a time the country had fallen into the era of anarchy and chaos.

In the light of the above, the most attacks against the freedom of expression, press and speech were taken a momentum during 2006, a time that Islamic Courts Union took power ousting former Somali war loads in south and central Somalia.  ============================================================

The late victim Mr. Said was the director of Hornafric radio in Mogadishu for close to two years and assassinated in Bakara Market on February o4 2009 while he was on his way for press conference of Al-shabaab group and he was a member of more than 7 media directors at that particular day.
